l The DST supported project titled "Capacity Building of Women in Habitat Services" has been initiated and the inception workshop under the project was held on July 28 at TARAgram Orchha. DA and its partners like Unnati from Rajasthan and Darshana Mahila Vikas Samiti from Madhya Pradesh, identified for the project, made plans for the way forward and for successful implementation in their respective regions. l
Under the project titled "Provision of safe
(Bacteria free) Drinking water to ‘Bottom of the Pyramid Customers’ in India
through Enterprise mode using Antenna WATA" a sharing workshop was organised
in Geneva where DA Group presented the progress and the way forward. The
main objective of the project is to test viable business models to deliver
safe water through chlorination to a target population of 25000 living in
slums of India and find replicable dissemination approaches for safe water.
Research and Development for developing robust products using Antenna

l TARA Housing and Sanitation Scheme launched in three villages of Niwari Block this month, to invite applications from interested families for construction of eco houses, with support from Madhya Bharat Grameen Bank at Orchha. l TARA Karigar Mandal, with support from DA, started work on a private school construction contract with Maya Bal Vikas Evam Prasar Samiti. The Maya school will be approx 10,000 sq ft large and will require about 40000 mud blocks for construction. l About 100 PRI members and 50 community leaders, from Tikamgarh and Jhansi, complited MGNREGS and Decentralised Planning training at TARAgram Orchha and Pahuj. l
The study titled "MGNREGS - a review of decent
work and green jobs in Kaimur district in Bihar’ undertaken by DA and
supported by International Labour Organisation was released by Shri Harish
Rawat, Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment, GoI on June
24, 2010 at the National Conference of Green Jobs, New Delhi. For web

l Bundelkhand Knowledge Platform set up Development Alternatives, launched a knowledge platform for Bundelkhand with 35 key stakeholders at a workshop in Orchha on July 29. The platform aims at developing a common understanding on issues related to climate change, watershed and livestock management, learning from practical experiences in Bundelkhand and other similar regions and discussing various knowledge sharing mechanisms. The workshop was organised by DA in collaboration with the Swiss Agency for Development Co-operation (SDC). l AVM Sahni honoured AVM Sahni, Senior Advisor Development Alternatives,
who has dedicated his life to the inclusive growth of the people of
Bundelkhand, will be honoured with the Rashtriya Ekta Samman. The award
will be given on August 19, to mark the 67 birth anniversary of former
prime minister, late Rajiv Gandhi by National Unity Conference for the
promotion of national unity and national integration.

l TARA Akshar is currently getting validated by SRC - Jaipur supported by MoHRD, Govt. of India under Saakshar Bharat Mission 2010 at Malekhera Village of Alwar district in Rajasthan. l TARAhaat has opened a new area office at Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. This takes total area offices of TARAhaat to nine. |
